About This Series
I had been working on a series of prints based on a drawing of a person in a very modified cobra style pose. My focus for a few weeks had been on the lower body. One night I started working with the ribcage/back plate, I juxtaposed the wax plate with its mirror print. The ‘finished’ image struck me strongly for its resemblance to wings. The more I looked, the more it evoked biblical feelings, tablets, angels, images of stained glass windows that might be found in a house of worship. I started thinking about old, time worn texts with a biblical meaning- dead sea scrolls, ancient torahs, the Sarajevo haggadah. The line from Genesis , ‘we are created in God’s image’ resonated with me – my work for the last few years has been about body acceptance and the beauty of the human form.
